Frequently Asked Questions
1. Is Bio N-Zymes™ suitable
for children?
Yes. Bio N-Zymes™ is made from natural ingredients,
including fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and herbs. It is safe for children
above 5 years old. However, you are recommended to halve the recommended
dosage for children below 12.
2. Is Bio N-Zymes™ suitable
for expecting and breast-feeding mothers?
Expecting and breast-feeding mothers can take Bio N-Zymes™
without any adverse effects. Please consult your physician if in any doubt.
3. Is Bio N-Zymes™ suitable
for those on prescription medications?
Yes. Bio N-Zymes™ is a natural fermented fruit,
vegetable and herbal drink which provides in a single dose, a chock-full
of live enzymes and nutrients, including phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals,
etc. in their “pre-digested” form. It’s suitable for
all, including those on prescribed medications. If in doubt, please consult
your physician before taking Bio N-Zymes™.
4. I understand that Bio N-Zymes™
is a vegetarian formula. How are plant-derived enzymes better than those
from animal sources available on the market?
Plant-derived enzymes are active in a broad pH range of 2 to 10, and temperature
ranges of 24°C to 50°C, well within the human body’s normal
pH and temperature ranges. Animal enzymes remain inactive until they reach
the higher pH of the small intestinal tract, so they are not very effective
at aiding the digestive process in the stomach.
5. Do I still need to take an enzyme supplement if I am not suffering
from symptoms of poor digestion?
Yes, especially if your diet consists mainly of cooked or processed food.
When we overburden our internally generated digestive enzymes to handle
the abundance of enzyme-depleted foods, we over-stress our body’s
resources. Hence less energy is available for rebuilding and rejuvenating
worn out and damaged cells and tissues. Enzyme supplementation takes the
burden off your body and enables energy to be conserved for other more
important metabolic functions, such as repair and rejuvenation processes.
6. Can those with stomach or duodenal
ulcers take Bio N-Zymes™?
Those suffering from severe gastric and duodenal ulcers should take enzyme
supplements on a full stomach, instead of taking it on its own. Dilute
it into a glassful or half a glassful of water and drink it up immediately.
If in doubt, please consult your physician before taking Bio N-Zymes™.
7. Can Bio N-Zymes™ be taken along with friendly bacteria supplements?
Will enzymes “hurt” these friendly bacteria?
Bio N-Zymes™ may be taken together with friendly
bacteria without affecting the potency or integrity of these friendly
bacteria. In fact, probiotics actually produce natural digestive enzymes
(lactase, etc.) as part of their functioning. Utilising enzymes and probiotics
together will synergistically enhance and maintain gastrointestinal well-being.
8. Do enzyme supplements cause the
body to stop producing its own enzymes? Will I become dependent on enzyme
supplements?
No. Enzyme supplements support normal organ functions without replacing
their roles or effectiveness. However, these supplemental enzymes may
relieve stress, thus reducing the load of output or energy used by these
organs. Supplemental enzymes do not directly control organ function or
productivity. There is no known upper limit to the amount of supplemental
enzymes that can be consumed. The reason for this is that the body has
1-100 trillion cells. Any one of those cells could be using thousands
of different enzymes every second. This allows huge quantities to be used
by the body without risk of dependency or overdosing.
9. I heard that enzymes need to be
enteric-coated as they can be destroyed by stomach acids or the body’s
own enzymes. Why isn’t Bio N-Zymes™ enteric-coated?
While it’s true that some enzymes (including those derived from
animal pancreas extracts) become inactive because of the low pH nature
of stomach acids, this does not apply to the enzymes found naturally in
Bio N-Zymes™. The enzymes in Bio N-Zymes™
are obtained naturally from a blend of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and
herbs, fermented by healthful microbes. These enzymes are more acid-resistant
so there is no need for enteric coating. This allows Bio N-Zymes™
to be available in liquid form for quicker and optimised absorption.
10. Will enzymes “digest”
my mouth, stomach, or intestines?
No! If enzymes could “digest” your mouth, stomach or intestines,
the enzymes produced by your own body would have already “digested”
you away. These enzymes act solely on the denatured (cooked or damaged)
proteins found in foods, or inflamed joints, or debris in your body. Most
proteins in their healthy state, are coiled and globular in structure,
and this prevents enzymes from acting on them.
11. I am suffering from diabetes.
Is Bio N-Zymes™ suitable for me? It tasted a little sweet.
Yes, Bio N-Zymes™ is suitable for all, including
those with diabetes. There is 1.95g of natural sugar (from fruits, vegetables,
etc.) in every 30ml serving – that’s less than half a teaspoon
of granulated sugar.
12. I’ve noticed that some
enzyme formulas in the market are in tablet or powder form. How do these
fare against liquid form?
It is a known fact that the liquid form provides superior absorption and
assimilation rates over the tablet form. This translates to higher efficiency.
It is of the utmost importance for those with a poor digestive system,
especially the elderly and those suffering from health ailments, to choose
a liquid form to ensure they are truly reaping the maximum benefits of
the product. Tablets are held together by binders and fillers. In most
instances, it may take up to 30 – 45 minutes to breakdown a tablet.
Hence, absorption will be delayed.
13. I’ve noticed the enzymes
in Bio N-Zymes™ are not listed as amylase, protease, lipase, etc.,
unlike other digestive enzyme supplements in the market. Why is it so?
What type of enzymes does Bio N-Zymes™ contain?
There are several enzyme supplements on the market. However, many of them
are digestive enzymes, which contain only several types of enzymes with
specific activity – namely amylase to breakdown carbohydrates, protease
to breakdown protein, lipase to breakdown fat, etc. These functions are
more specific on improving the digestion. Other formulas may contain bromelain
or papain, the enzymes from pineapple and papaya respectively, with proteolytic
and anti-inflammatory properties. Most of these enzyme formulas have limited
enzyme types (check their labels).
Bio N-Zymes™ is unique
as it is a fermented blend of over 85 fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, and
herbs, carefully chosen to compliment each other. It provides the numerous
health-enhancing enzymes existing naturally in these natural sources,
along with the enzymes produced by the healthful microbes during the fermentation
process. In fact, it is a cocktail of enzymes with a wide range of functions
– not limited to improving digestion or with anti-inflammatory properties.
It contains other enzymes with antioxidant properties such as SOD-like
enzymes, or metabolic enzymes. Apart from that, Bio N-Zymes™
is bursting with naturally occurring nutrients from various plant sources.
It’s truly a health-promoting cocktail of natural goodness.
14. Why are there so many types of
fruits, vegetables and herbs used in the preparation of Bio N-Zymes™?
Each fruit or vegetable has a specific group of enzymes, which is typical
to it. For example, bromelain is unique to pineapple, as papain is to
papaya. Hence, a cocktail of fruits, vegetables, mushrooms and herbs provide
numerous types of enzymes, with numerous functions - all working synergistically
to promote health and well-being. This complex formula of fruits, vegetables,
mushrooms and herbs also provides an array of powerful nutrients, including
vitamins, minerals, trace minerals, phytonutrients, antioxidants, etc.
to offer better protection against health ailments and illnesses. On top
of that, these are in “pre-digested” forms (due to the fermentation
process) and more bio-available to the body.
15. I started taking Bio N-Zymes™
for a health complaint. However, after taking it for a few months, my
problem is gone. Should I stop taking Bio N-Zymes™?
Good for you! You are one of the many who have benefited from taking Bio
N-Zymes™. We strongly encourage you to continue taking
it as long as your diet predominantly consists of enzyme-deficient cooked
and processed foods, it could help to prevent the recurrence of the health
ailment.
